They offer a lot of great features for the price. As a web designer I signed up for their small reseller account to give my customers a (hopefully) reliable hosting service.
The first two months with PlanetGAC were fine. Tech support was sluggish but they did respond to my few questions. Then the server went down. Tech support took a day to respond to my inquiry. Apparently the NOC had messed up updating the kernel. I was assured that the problem was fixed.
Then the server went down again, and again, and again. Sometimes it would go down for 10 minutes, other times it would go down for 24 hours. This happened for a period of three weeks during which time I could not get a single response from any of the various means I used to contact tech support. Even the support forum was shut down for “routine maintenance.”
I called the tech support 800 number, and after 30 tries I still got a generic sounding answering machine which could have been some guys apartment in the Bronx for all I could tell.
Needless to say I have moved on… I still haven’t heard from tech support. |
